Making The Most of Mentoring

Mentoring is most successful when those being mentored approach the relationship with clear expectations and understanding of their role, as well as the role of their mentor.

Mentoring relationships go two ways. The mentor is responsible for teaching, advising, coaching, and providing feedback in ways that build a developmental relationship. Mentees must come to this partnership with development goals and clarity about how they can make the most of this relationship.

In this one-day program participants will:

  • Learn the roles of mentors and their (mentee’s) roles in successful mentoring relationships
  • Examine the potential benefits and risks of being mentored
  • Create a draft development plan to discuss with their mentors
  • Gain skills that contribute to effective mentoring conversations and long-term developmental relationships
