Managers Role in Developmental Planning

Although individuals carry the primary responsibility for their career development, managers play a critical role in career development. The managers’ role is vital to the individual as well as to the organization – the manager ensures that development activities are aligned with and valuable to the goals and needs of the organization.

This program helps managers develop the tools and techniques for successfully participating in a career discussion. The process focuses on developing employee skills, interests, and goals, and helps employees align these with organizational opportunities.
 
During this 1-day program, participants will:  
 
•    Develop skills that allow and encourage an open discussion of career goals with employees.
•    Build confidence to work through career issues and concerns with employees.
•    Understand how to be a career resource for employees.
•    Increase their ability to address difficult organizational realities that affect careers.
•    Practice using feedback skills in realistic situations.
