Mentoring Skills

Mentoring is both a process and a set of skills. The mentoring process involves guiding another’s learning and development through advising, teaching, coaching, and providing feedback. Each of these skills is an important part of the growth that occurs through mentoring. This workshop equips participants (mentors) to build a developmental relationship in which they provide information and challenges to accelerate the other person’s performance, increase capability, and guide career development.

Mentors will grow using and applying the resources available in this workshop:  high involvement materials, activities, skill practices, and take-away learning references.

During this 2-day program, participants will:

• Clarify and practice the roles, responsibilities, and skills for mentoring.
• Learn a mentoring model that anchors the process, providing specific guidelines and behaviors for the mentor.
• Develop an action plan to increase long-term success and effectiveness as a mentor.
